Court releases Road Control activist Dzyndzia
Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskt District Court has dropped the charges against previously detained Road Control activist Andriy Dzyndzia and freed him in the courtroom.
The activist was released as part of the law introducing amendments to the law of Ukraine on eliminating the negative consequences and preventing the prosecution and punishment of persons who participated in events that occurred during peaceful assemblies, which the parliament adopted on January 16. The prosecutors had no objections to a respective petition.
As reported, Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office on Monday closed 35 criminal proceedings concerning events related to mass protests in November and December 2013.
The law on eliminating the negative consequences and preventing the prosecution and punishment of persons who participated in the events that occurred during peaceful assembly helps to release all participants in peaceful demonstrations detained in November and December 2013. The law also applies to law enforcement officers.
