Court rejects limiting terms of investigation into cases of Polischuk and Medvedko

Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court has rejected the defense of Denys Polischuk and Andriy Medvedko, who are suspected of journalist and writer Oles Buzyna’s murder, to limit the term of investigation into criminal cases against them. A relevant ruling was announced by Judge Svitlana Babenko.

“There was an opportunity to reduce the term of investigation, but the judge rejected a motion, that’s why we continue to fight,” Serhiy Bondar, a defense’s representative, told an Ukrinform correspondent.

According to him, the prosecutor’s office in line with the current Criminal and Procedural Code has the right to investigate this criminal case during the term of up to one year.

As a reminder, Medvedko and Polischuk, who are accused of Oles Buzyna’s murder, were arrested on June 18, 2015.

Buzyna was shot dead near his own house in Kyiv on April 16.
