Kyiv’s Court of Appeals has refused to change the measure of restraint for former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and left her under arrest. Olena Sitaylo, the judge-rapporteur on the Tymoshenko case, issued such a ruling on December 1.
She also scheduled the consideration of the appeal against the ex-premier’s seven-year jail sentence for December 13.
The court also decided that there were no grounds to hold a judicial inquiry, as insisted by Tymoshenko’s lawyers.The defense team’s petition to close a criminal case against Tymoshenko due to her ill health was also rejected. Sitaylo also rejected a petition by the defense team to allow Serhiy Vlasenko to act as Tymoshenko’s lawyer.
