City director wary of Dynamo Kyiv
City, though, are inconsistent in the Premier League.
Dynamo Kyiv coach Serhiy Rebrov hopes the hectic English football schedule can work to his team’s advantage when they face Manchester City in the Champions League Round of 16.
The Ukrainian side have been drawn against the Sky Blues in the round of 16 stage of the Champions League scheduled to resume again in February.
But Dynamo knocked City out of the Europa League in 2011 in the only time they have met and Begiristain was keen to dampen the euphoria around the draw.
Dynamo were hit with a three-game UEFA punishment following racist chanting at their group stage clash with Chelsea in October.
“City are a strong team with great players, but we need to go out and perform against them“, he told UEFA.com.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men were handed a favourable draw in the last 16 of the competition as they avoided the likes of Paris Saint-Germain.
We’ll begin the year with Champions League matches.
Its going to be hard for us but the most important thing is that we show were improving in this competition and well fight to get to the quarters.
“The weather sometimes doesn’t help, but we have to be ready. We’re ready to try and improve in this competition and grow”.
Begiristain added: They are a strong side, they will play football and its 11 v 11. “Playing against Chelsea, they have shown they are a good side and it’s going to always be hard for us”. We already have enough experience.
