Chelsea tie too tough to call for PSG coach Blanc
Bayern Munich were handed a tough-looking draw against Juventus, while Real Madrid will also face Italian opposition in Roma.
Arsenal club secretary David Miles has hailed the Champions League round-of-16 clash against Barcelona as “the tie of the round”.
City sporting director Txiki Begiristain said: “They are a strong side and play their football on the pitch”.
And Miles admitted drawing Barcelona was not what Arsenal fans and his own family would have wanted. The match will be the second of two Kyiv have been ordered to play behind closed doors because of the misconduct of their supporters, including racist chanting.
Chelsea Club Secretary and board member David Barnard was one of our representatives at the draw; he thinks last year’s elimination by 10-man PSG will provide extra motivation.
“Chelsea were playing wonderfully well last season, PSG have already won the French league – they must be 17 points clear now and it’s not even Christmas”, Wilkins was quoted saying in the Daily Mirror.
“If you want to say it’s 50-50, then say it’s 50-50; I don’t know”.
Chelsea emerged victorious against the Parisians in the quarter-finals a year earlier but Jose Mourinho’s squad are beset by domestic struggles in 2015-16.
“We were in a very complicated group and we did very well to come through it without too much difficulty”.
“We know what can happen if you have ten poor minutes on a European night”. They are growing in the competition and it will be a big challenge but we hope to be ready. “They have a similar football philosophy to ours, they like to attack and to have the ball”.
Also, it was PSV Eindhoven against Atletico Madrid; Dynamo Kyiv versus Manchester City; and Benfica against Zenit St. Petersburg.
Gent, in its first participation in the competition, will take on Germany’s VfL Wolfsburg.
Barcelona travel to Emirates Stadium for the first leg on 23 February with the second leg at the Nou Camp on 16 March.
Silva is wary of the hurting Londoners and knows just how desperate they will be in Europe.
Wenger’s awful recent record in the knock-out stages of the Champions League received an inevitable airing, so too an unfavourable head-to-head against Barcelona which has resulted in only one win in seven games. “Clubs will play twice a week and this also will be significant”.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp will head back to Germany in the Europa League’s round of 32, though he avoided his old team.
