Border service starts work along buffer zone in eastern Ukraine – ITAR

KYIV, October 16. /TASS/. The State Border Service of Ukraine gets down to work to set up control posts to patrol a buffer zone in the embattled eastern Ukraine, agency’s spokesman Oleg Slobodyan told 112 Ukraine television on Thursday.

He said the service is performing certain tasks for the implementation of the peace plan for eastern Ukraine. This includes setting up control posts as well as patrols of certain sections along the so-called buffer zone, the demarcation line, he said.

At OSCE-mediated talks in Minsk, parties to the Ukrainian conflict agreed on setting up a 30-kilometer buffer zone to separate Ukrainian law enforcers and militias of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics.
