KYIV, June 27. /UKRINFORM/. Ukraine and Russia have agreed on a bid for the purchase of natural gas in 2013, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boiko said before a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

When asked by journalists whether the two countries agreed on a bid for the purchase of natural gas in 2013, he said: “Of course.”

When asked whether the amount of natural gas was set at 27 billion cubic meters, the minister expressed confidence that Ukraine “will really buy even less gas [than planned].”

In accordance with the gas balance for 2012 approved by the Cabinet of Ministers Ukraine, Naftogaz of Ukraine is to import 27 billion cubic meters of natural gas this year. In addition, the document also foresees the import of eight billion cubic meters of natural gas by Ostchem Holding Limited (Cyprus).

As reported, in 2011, Naftogaz also stated its intention to purchase 27 billion cubic meters of gas in 2012, taking into account a contract for 52 billion cubic meters of gas and take-or-pay conditions envisaging the import of 41.6 billion cubic meters of gas.
