Biden meets Poroshenko in Kyiv, reassures support
BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhuanet) — U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is paying a visit to Ukraine. He has met with Ukrainian leaders including President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv Monday.
Biden’s visit is aimed at encouraging the country toward reforms and erasing corruption. He is also tasked with reassuring Kyiv of continued Western support despite the current focus on Syria.
Biden will also speak to Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk later Monday and address the Ukrainian parliament Tuesday. This is Biden’s fourth visit to Kyiv since Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimea peninsula in March 2014.
