Fighting between Ukrainian forces Russia-backed separatists has considerably diminished since early Sept., after killing some eight,000 people since Apr. 2014, still tensions stay high due to unresolved questions concerning the ultimate political standing of the rebel regions within the east. In the meantime, Western attention has turned largely towards the fight against Islamic extremism in Syria Iraq. Since Russia started airstrikes in Syria on Sept. 30, Ukrainian officers have frightened in that their very own country’s troubles would fade from view, particularly if the West begins cooperating with Russia to fight the Islamic State group. …
