Batkivschyna Nominates Bondarenko As Kyiv Mayoral Candidate
The Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Association party has nominated the current head of the Kyiv municipal administration, Volodymyr Bondarenko, as its candidate in the Kyiv mayoral election.
The press service of the party announced this in a statement.
“We consider Volodymyr Bondarenko suitable, a manager, a politician, a serious specialist on utilities, and the author of draft laws that will help destroy utility monopolization schemes in Kyiv and across the country,” said the report.
Batkivschyna nominated its candidates for election into the Kyiv city council from its party list and majority districts at a conference of the party’s Kyiv city chapter.
The top five candidates on the party’s list are Volodymyr Bondarenko, Tetiana Melikhova (the leader of the Batkivschyna faction in the Kyiv city council), Ihor Lutsenko (a social activist), Oleksandr Fedorenko (the deputy chairman of Batkivschyna’s Kyiv city chapter), and Ivan Krulko (the chairman of the Batkivschyna youth organization).
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Parliamentary Deputy Lesia Orobets of the Batkivschyna faction and the leader of the Vitali Klitschko Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform (UDAR) parliamentary faction, Vitali Klitschko, have proposed that the parliament introduce appointment of the head of the Kyiv municipal administration by the President of Ukraine based on recommendation from the mayor.
The Kyiv mayoral election will be held on May 25.
