Azarov demands more active construction of affordable housing – NRCU
He announced this at a meeting on the implementation of the Affordable Housing program in Kyiv on Saturday. “Our main task is to ensure a significant increase in construction and build as much affordable housing as possible so that people can buy it,” Azarov said. The prime minister said that he was extremely pleased that sales of housing in Kyiv nearly doubled last year, which, in his opinion, suggests that the solvency of citizens is growing and that the best ratio of money and quality of housing has been found. The head of government said that the amount of housing construction in Kyiv in 2011 exceeded figures reported in Soviet era. “Over 1.5 million square meters of housing was constructed [in Kyiv] last year,” Azarov said. He said that 9.4 million square meters of housing was built in Ukraine in 2011.
