Analyst raises Ukraine 2015 grain harvest forecast to 54.9 million tonnes

KYIV: The forecast for Ukraine’s 2015 grain harvest has been raised to 54.9 million tonnes, from a previous estimate of 52.3 million, agriculture consultancy UkrAgroConsult said on Tuesday.

The main reason for the increase in the overall forecast was a rise last week in the consultancy’s estimate for the 2015 wheat harvest, consultancy analyst Yalizaveta Malyshko said.

UkrAgroConsult raised its wheat production forecast by 1 million tonnes, to 22 million tonnes. It also increased its forecast for the maize crop, but did not give details.
