AeroSvit Reaches Agreement With Boryspil Airport On Resumption Of Services
The AeroSvit airline company (Kyiv) has reached agreement with the state-owned the Boryspil international airport (Kyiv region) on resumption of services to the company.
A representative of the airline company disclosed this to Ukrainian News.
“With Boryspil, the issue [of payment for services] has been resolved,” said the representative.
He added that services to the airline company should be resumed as a result of the agreement and, accordingly, the flights that were postponed to Friday, January 4, should be performed.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Boryspil international airport announced on 4 December that it had decided to suspend the servicing of the AeroSvit airline company’s flights from 12:50 on January 4 due to lack of prepayments by the airline company.
It is stated on the website of the airport that AeroSvit’s flights to Berlin and Riga, which are scheduled for 11:55, have been serviced.
The flights VV 131 to New York (scheduled for 12:55) and VV 229 to Athens (scheduled for 12:50) have been canceled.
Regarding the flight VV 257 from Kyiv to Copenhagen (scheduled for 12:50), it is stated that it is expected at 14:25; a number of other flights have also been postponed to a later time (by no more than a few hours).
In December, the airports Sheremetyevo (Moscow), Minsk (Belarus), and Lviv suspended services to AeroSvit because of debts, but the airline company managed to negotiate resumption of services within one day (within a few days in the case of the Moscow airport ).
The Kyiv Regional Economic Court on December 29 began bankruptcy proceedings related to AeroSvit after the company filed for bankruptcy.
The airline company stressed that it filed for bankruptcy with the aim of beginning financial rehabilitation and that it intends to continue operations and fulfilling its existing obligations.
